March meeting was very informative and with 36 & 10 speakers the attendance was very good. The Ladies shared their stories about walking the Bruce trail and all what comes with it. How to prepare, what to take with you. What to do and what not to. The fun they had and the beautiful views on the trail. Their stories has inspired a lot of us. It was a great evening.
Meeting Tuesday March 18, 2014
This meeting will be about the Bruce trail.
Our members Wilma, Helmy, Toni, Coby, Marian, Mariette, Wilma B, Vera, Martha and Dorrie will guide us through their personal journey on the Bruce Trail. The Bruce Trail is Canada’s oldest and longest footpath that provides the only continuous public access to the Niagara Escarpment, a Unesco World Biosphere Reserve.
It is one of North America’s most celebrated natural environments. The Bruce trail is 885 km.
We hope to see you.

February meeting! We have still spots available for our Winter workshop!!
Wednesday, February 12, 2014 “Winter workshop Nutrition and Health”
Nutrition and Health is a theme we live with every day of our life and so we know that we will bring to you today an educational day: a day filled with new ideas, a new outlook and lots of fun!
We will start our workshop with a great cooking presentation by Fanshawe College!
Extreme Recipe Makeover: tired of making the same old recipe the same way every time? This workshop will take five tried and true recipes and make them each into three new amazing creations. An appetizer, salad, veggie, meat and dessert will be demonstrated. Whether you are an amateur in the kitchen or a seasoned cook- you will enjoy this workshop. Food, fun and laughter while expanding your recipe diversification and challenging your culinary creativity … the perfect combination!
Oxford County’s Market Basket: Celebrate all that our area has to offer - fresh from the grower to your table. You will learn how to buy, store and use local products in a variety of ways. Buy Ontario… we will show you how it benefits everyone!
Our instructor will be Francine Paquette. She is a certified Public Health Inspector and worked for Oxford county Public Health for over 20 years before becoming an Infection Control Consultant for Public Health Ontario. She has taught for Fanshawe College since 1994. Classes include Food handler certification and Re-certification, Infection Control for the Medical Office Assistant program as well as Extreme Recipe Makeover, Crock Star and Designer Snacks. Her background makes her the perfect instructor for our cooking classes and her personality makes it fun for everyone!
Lunch: We eat what we cook!!!
In the afternoon we will look at “Dirty Little Secrets of BigFood”. Join Pam Killeen as she exposes the methods food processors use to maximize profits at the expense of human health. She will also reveal what you can do to make sure you and your family are obtaining the most nutrient-dense foods possible. Pam Killeen is the author of: “The Hidden Epidemic” and co-author of the New York Times bestselling book: “The Great Bird Flu Hoax”. She has been independently studying nutrition and natural health for over twenty years. Her interest in these areas stems from overcoming a lengthy battle with chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and multiple chemical sensitivities. Currently, she works in London, ON, as a nutritional consultant, but she is also a dynamic and diverse public speaker and radio personality. Her website is: www.pamkilleen.com
We will let loose at the end of our day with an half an hour of ZUMBA!
Jessica Black will teach us how.
Get your bodies moving ladies and maybe get inspired to stay in shape with this great workout over the winter month

“Ingamo Homes”
Our first speaker will be Diane Harris, executive Director of Ingamo Homes since 1996. Ingamo Homes is a 21-townhouse unit
second-stage transitional housing facility in Oxford County for victims of domestic violence who are struggling to get back on their feet. Opening in March 1989, they handed out the first key to a family; “She took it, put it in the lock and began to turn her life around”! Since then, over 1000 families have come through the gate of Ingamo and made changes to their lives. Women and their children who live at Ingamo stay approximately 16-18 month in total. In addition to providing a home, Ingamo also provides support, safety planning, children’s programs, legal court support, and counselling. Diane Harris joined the agency in 1990 and became the Executive Director after the agency lost government funding. She and the board of directors have been instrumental in building up the funding base allowing the doors of Ingamo, along with its many services, to remain open and available to women and their children.

" AALP program "
Today our member Marian Sterk together with a coordinator of AALP will learn us more about this program.
Marian will also tell us about her trip to India with the AALP. Established in 1984, the Advanced Agricultural Leadership Program (AALP) is an executive development program for men and women who want to broaden their horizons and expand their networks to help shape the future of the agriculture and food sectors in Ontario. AALP is administered by the Rural Ontario Institute. Through a series of seminars, AALP participants develop leadership skills, an increased knowledge of the agri-food system and perspectives on critical issues in the industry. Study topics include: government and political systems, marketing and economics, environmental impact, national and international trade, communication and organization skills, decision making, consumer and social issues, working with the media, trends in the agri-food industry and society, and globalization and the dynamics of change. The value of this program is further enhanced as participants expand their networks across the agri-food and rural sectors, through their North-
American and international study tours.
