“Shovel to Spoon”
The Local Community Food Centre is a not-for-profit agency dedicated to alleviating food insecurity in Stratford and Perth County. Their programs are dedicated to enabling self-identified food insecure individuals with skills in the areas of growing, cooking and advocating for good food.
The Shovel to Spoon program is run for 14 weeks, and focuses on the life skills of growing and cooking nutritious food, then sharing the food made with the program participants. As a result, their participants get education in hygiene and safety in the kitchen and garden, cooking and gardening instruction, nutritious meals at each session, and an opportunity to get out and socialize. Often participants become friends outside of the program. In there last session per program, the participants run a restaurant to demonstrate to family and friends their acquired skills.
Their clients for this program are generally referred by social agencies such as Family Services and Canadian Mental Health Association.
You still can sign up for our June Bus trip to Durndun Castle and the Botanical Gardens in Hamilton.
Lunch and diner provided for members.
Bring your registration form and cheque to the meeting tomorrow and you are good to go on June 16, 2015.

The Winter workshop our Big Bee Day was very interesting and was liked a lot by the attending members.
We learned a lot about Bees and what they mean for the agriculture business. Wendy Colcuc told us about the need of Bees on their blueberry farm and Albert de Vries from clovermead adventure and Apiaries talked about the pollination and gave us a good understanding of the importance of bees. We also had a Honey tasting what was very yummie. the lunch by Chrissy's catering was also very good. The wax candle making in the afternoon was a lot of fun to.

We had a great trip to the One of a kind show.
The show was really nice and lots to see.
Lots of art like wood work, ceramic, painting and fashion.
A variety of food and diverse shows and classes.
We were with 35 members and guests.
The bus from Cherry lines was nice unfortunately the traffic was very busy and the weather toke a change when we returned home.
Afterwards a lot of us went out for diner before driving back home.
All together we had a good day.
Unfortunately I forgot my camera so I don't have any pictures made.
