April Meeting
Monday April 15. 2019 O.M.A.F.R.A.: 8:00 pm
“Annual meeting” & “Sowing the seeds of hope”
Aaron will speak to us about the project he is being involved in. The Sowing the seed of Hope project in Zambia, Afrika.
Help you to reach your goals!
I (Aaron Breimer) was born and raised on a cash crop farm in Middlesex county close to the town of Ailsa Craig. I attended the University of Guelph for my agricultural science degree including 1 semester on exchange to New Zealand. After university I moved to Chatham to work in the agriculture retail industry. For the last 7 years I have worked in a variety of roles for Veritas Farm Business Management which is an agricultural consulting firm focusing on agronomy, business planning and precision agriculture. In my spare time I still play competitive rugby and am an active scuba diver.
A brief overview of the topic/presentation: Beginning in the summer of 2013, I have been involved in a project that works with subsistence farmers in Zambia, Africa to improve maize (corn) yields. Through this project which included 2 trips personally to Zambia the project has evolved from an 0.5 ac test plot to over 20,000 ac’s resulting in over 60,000 people being lifted out of poverty through knowledge. The path has not always been smooth and straight forward and I fully admit that as much as the rural people of Zambia of learned from the project, the project participants have also learned from them.

March Meeting
Thursday, March 07. 2019 Arden Park Hotel, Stratford, 10:00 am
“Joint meeting of Oxford WSA with Huron-Perth WSA”
“Embracing change on the farm…Living an intentional life by Elaine Froese”
Elaine Froese is a professional speaker, writer, and coach who specializes in helping farm families work through issues surrounding succession, business or that family favourite – communication. ... She creates a safe place for families to meet, plan for change and clarify expectations. She offers farm families straight talk and courageous conversations on the issues that seem impossible to resolve.
I’m Elaine Froese, a lifelong farmer. Every day, I use my background in conflict resolution and communication to help fellow growers and ranchers face make-or-break issues head on -- so they can focus on the business of farming. Starting with 4-H presentations in Manitoba at age nine and moving on to audiences today in Mexico, Australia and beyond, I have always understood that communication is the key to building trust and understanding, especially when your family members are your business partners. I have personally experienced the stresses and frustrations that only families in today’s agriculture climate understand. I have seen it all, heard it all, and survived it all -- from buying the in-laws’ farm, the isolation of farm life, a sudden illness or death in the family, and every crisis you can imagine. I’ve given families worldwide the practical tools they need to save their marriages, hold onto their farms and gain some much-needed peace of mind.
Elaine will be speaking to us about:
Embracing Change on the farm …. Living an intentional life
Finding Fairness in Farm Transition
Farming’s In-law Factor 2018 and answers questions
After Lunch we will have a Line dance demonstration by Jannie van Roekel.
This entire day will be for and about (farm)women. Join us for this momentous day!
Tickets available at the 1st meeting by Caren Duizer after that meeting only prepaid online at ticketscene.ca or from Gerda Schryver for Oxford WSA or Marianne Veldman for Huron-Perth WSA.
Early bird ticket buyers are emailed a free eBook from Elaine Froese!

Speaking to crowds both large and small that include businesses, community groups, churches, police, colleges, universities, NGO’s, associations and more, Kelly offers creative ways to encourage her listeners to care, be aware and share when it comes to serving deserving girls with self directed empowerment. She is bold, honest, witty, often humorous and challenges everyone to use your passion with a purpose to make things better around and in us all. Her desire to inspire through #eyes on campaigns as a communal safety net is simple and usable. What passion for purpose does she need to motivate and fuel for your future? Come listen or read and you will find out! Kelly works tirelessly to hear and present survivor input and is hopeful that spending time together will change your thinking, our systems and drive you to action for the benefit of a survivor story happy ending.

“Christmas in the Country“ “craft & social”!
Christmas Season! Come join us at Heemans from 10:00am to 3:00pm for a Christmas craft & Social!
We will travel/carpooling by cars to this locating for our Christmas get-together.
We will be making a beautiful table decoration and you must choose one of the crafts on the pictures below.
Our WSA Choir will sing for us to get in the Christmas spirit.
We will start with coffee/tea, then do the craft and we will have a nice lunch with for those who like a glass of wine. There will also be lots of time to browse around and get some ideas for Christmas in the store.
At Heeman’s, we’re proud to be the go-to destination for all things gardening and (of course) strawberries for our community. We’ve been around for 55 years, and over that time we’ve changed and grown a lot as a family and as a business, but we’ve always remained committed to three things, quality produce and plants, great customer service and fair prices. Located on the east side of London, ON, Heeman's is a ‘destination’ garden centre. What does that mean? Well, that there is something for everyone in the family. Not only are we a plant-lovers paradise and a local food fan’s dream, we also boast the only coffee & ice cream sundae bar ~ our Berry Beanery ~ in a greenhouse in the city. For three generations (and a fourth now it is training), the family and Day makers at Heeman's have been adding colour to your garden and growing strawberries that will remind you of how a berry should taste! Come check us out and experience the Day maker difference for yourself.
Craft, coffee/tea & Lunch is all included in the price of $ 40.00 for Members & $ 70.00 for Non-members.
Registration & payment for members only, until Monday November 19, 2018.
Open to Non-Members from November 20 until Saturday November 24. 2018
